China

China is the modern bastion of socialism.

Democracy

China’s democracy is based on mass participation and serving the majority. Every citizen over 18 has the right to vote and run in local elections at the village, township, and district levels. Tens of millions take part in these elections. Representatives are then selected through indirect elections up to the National People’s Congress, which has around 3,000 deputies from all parts of society, including workers, farmers, professionals, women, and ethnic minorities.

The Communist Party of China, or CPC, is at the core of this system and has over 100 million members from all walks of life. Anyone over 18 who meets basic standards can apply to join. CPC members are actively involved in policymaking, local leadership, and national planning.

China also uses extensive public consultation. Draft laws and policies are shared for feedback, and people participate through meetings, surveys, online platforms, and community discussions. This makes political participation continuous, not limited to occasional elections.
